bonnie 2015Bonnie Johnson, AgCareers.com’s Marketing Associate who works out of the Ames, Iowa office, is celebrating five years with the organization this week. Bonnie shares what her work involves and memories from her time with AgCareers.com.

What do you do on a day-to-day basis?

I coordinate AgCareers.com email marketing and help job seekers with their inquiries. I also analyze data from our site to support branding efforts for AgCareers.com and employer partnership clients. Other duties include surveying job seekers and employers and analyzing and interpreting that data. I do some writing and other marketing communications. I also handle market research projects.

What do you enjoy about working with AgCareers.com?

I enjoy working in the agricultural industry—an industry that is so vital to everyone’s basic needs. I like that we’re advocates for the agricultural industry and that the company encourages us to experience all the various things that the industry provides. There are lots of opportunities involved with my job.

What advice would you give to job seekers using AgCareers.com for the first time?

I would encourage job seekers to set up a job seeker account, because that will allow them to set up a job search agent and also because it will keep track of their application history, so they’ll be able to go back and see what they’ve done. I would also encourage them to sign up for our weekly e-newsletter to get helpful career advice every week and featured job postings.

What is one of your favorite memories while working with AgCareers.com?

I’m going to say what everybody else says: I enjoy the company retreats, because we get to know other members of our team that are not in our locations. I’d say Savannah, Georgia was one of my favorites. I also enjoy going to career fairs because I like talking to people about AgCareers.com and introducing it to students and other job seekers that have never used our site before. I like sharing all that we have to offer as a new resource for candidates.

Devils towerIn your spare time, what do you like to do on the weekends?

I like to spend time with family and friends and explore new things with my kids. I like to read mystery or true crime novels. We’re Cyclone fans, so we like watching Iowa State athletics as well. I enjoy going camping with my family in the summer (the picture to the left is of my family and me at Devil’s Tower in Wyoming).

What’s your favorite snack and name one thing you can’t live without while working?

I can’t live without pop or, depending on where you are reading this from, soda or Coke. My favorite snack is Mega Lollipops and Zots. Anything chocolate and peanut butter as well.

Favorite book & favorite movie?

My favorite author is Patricia Cornwell. She writes series of books about the character Kay Scarpetta. I’d say Shawshank Redemption is my favorite movie.  I seem to be more obsessed with TV though as the DVR is my friend so I can watch the shows after the kids are in bed. So my favorites there would be Parenthood (why did it have to end?!), Forensic Files and Dateline, and then reality talent competitions, like American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, and The Voice
