What do you do on a day-to-day basis in your role with AgCareers.com?
I help with finding new business and interacting with inbound requests in regards to our salary survey. I reach out to potential clients who might be posting on the job board site and try to cultivate that new business. I also help with special projects on the HR side. Currently, I’m helping with our HR Review survey. My job involves a lot of email follow-up, doing demos of the database, and answering any questions clients might have.
What do you enjoy most about working with AgCareers.com?
I really like our company culture and the family atmosphere that we have. I feel like we’re all one big family and it makes working here a lot more enjoyable when you like who you work with. Everyone is willing to help each other. I worked in the government realm before this and it wasn’t like it is here. We all have each other’s back.
What advice would you give to employers using AgCareers.com for the first time?
Be prepared to think and recruit outside of the box. Look at the other service options we have instead of the traditional one job posting. Talk to your account manager and learn how to leverage the AgCareers.com suite of products to make your posting stand out to our community.
What is one of your favorite memories while working with AgCareers.com?
All my favorite memories revolve around meeting a new team member for the first time. I really enjoy that—it’s like meeting a new sibling for the first time. I love that initial interaction with a new teammate.
In your spare time, what do you like to do on weekends?
I like to spend time with friends and family. My husband and I live three hours from both of our families so we try to spend one weekend a month seeing our families and then other weekends, we like to explore Richmond, Virginia. We like going on the river and kayaking.
What’s your favorite snack and name one thing you can’t live without while working?
My favorite snack is a tie between Chex Mix and Nabs (peanut butter on cheese crackers). I have a big thing of Chex Mix on my desk right now. I have to have dual monitors while working. I go crazy when I only have one monitor. I also have to have caffeine. It can be any kind, but I have to have some.
Favorite book and favorite movie?
I don’t read books that much anymore, but my favorite “book” is Buzzfeed. I like the news and the funny articles they post. I’m a movie buff, so it’s hard to pick one. I like Finding Nemo thanks to my little cousin and we watched it over 100 times when I would babysit him growing up. I also love The Princess Bride. I love quoting that. The entire day I got married, I kept quoting the minister.
