What do you do on a day-to-day basis in your role with AgCareers.com?
I mostly handle outgoing phone calls in an effort to connect with clients and new clients.
What do you enjoy about working with AgCareers.com?
I’m learning something new every single day. No two days here are ever the same. And I can appreciate that because you might think that talking on the phone every day would be the same thing every day, but I learn about agriculture, about the companies, and I can use that for my next phone call. I’m learning all the time.
What advice would you give to employers using AgCareers.com for the first time?
You’re going to get quality resumes versus quantity, and that quality is going to save so much time and effort on their part. You won’t have to pick through 300 resumes whereas only one might be qualifying. Using AgCareers.com can get you 30 resumes but you’ll get 25 potential qualifiers.
What are you most looking forward to in your role with AgCareers.com?
I’m excited to learn more about the industry and how it affects my day-to-day life. You don’t really think about the food on your table until you think about all the jobs that go into it. It has to go through a lot of processes before it gets to me. That’s very interesting to me. I also found some really cool farms in the area that I’m looking forward to visiting. I spent one Saturday with my son picking strawberries on a farm, and they made the best strawberry margaritas!
In your spare time, what do you like to do on the weekends?
I like to read, and I’m actually working on writing a novel. I also like to spend as much time with my son as I can. He’s fifteen, so I try to stalk him as much as I can so we can hang out.
What’s your favorite snack and name one thing you can’t live without while working?
I cannot live without a pen and a piece of paper while I’m working, and also water. I have to have some next to me while I’m doing what I do. I talk so much, and talking dries you out. My favorite snack is lightly salted popcorn mixed with plain M&Ms.
Favorite book & favorite movie?
My favorite book is I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou and my favorite movie is The Lion King.
